The Maharashtra government has launched an ambitious welfare scheme called the Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana, aimed at providing financial assistance to underprivileged women across the state. Under this program, eligible women will receive a monthly stipend of ₹1,500, directly transferred to their bank accounts. The scheme, which was announced in the state budget by Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, is set to benefit over one crore women in Maharashtra.
Initially launched on July 1, 2024, the scheme has garnered immense interest, with over 44 lakh online applications received within just two weeks of its announcement. Recognizing the overwhelming response and to ensure wider participation, the government has extended the application deadline to August 31, 2024.
